Privacy Policy

The short version

MTG Hookups exists to do one thing: match you with nearby Magic: The Gathering traders, then hand the conversation off to Discord. We collect what we need to run matching and accounts. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and nothing is bought or sold on the site.

What we collect

Discord identity. When you register, you authorize us through Discord. We receive and store your Discord username and Discord account ID. We use the identify scope only. We cannot read your messages, your servers, or your friends.
Account login. Your email address and a securely hashed password.
Location for matching. Your ZIP code and your chosen search radius. We use these to find traders near you and to rank matches by distance.
Trade data. The cards in your trade binder and want list, your trade preference, and related settings.
Basic technical data. Like most websites, we may receive basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, and logs needed to keep the site secure and working.

What other people can see

Other users can see your Discord handle, your trade binder, your want list, and your approximate location. We do not show your exact address, ZIP code, or precise distance in miles.

How we use it

Strictly to run the service: create and secure your account, generate matches, show your public trade profile, and let matched users reach you on Discord. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies or similar storage only when needed to keep you signed in, secure your account, and run the site. We do not use advertising cookies.

Sharing with third parties

We share data only with the services that make the site work, such as Discord for sign-in and as the place you actually talk to your matches, and our hosting provider. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies.

Your choices and rights

You can edit your location, search radius, trade preferences, and lists at any time in Settings, and you can pause matching with vacation mode. You can also export your data or delete your account from Settings.

Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you additional rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. If you have a request that is not covered in Settings, contact us.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and trade lists, except where we're required to retain something to comply with the law.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including securely hashed passwords. No website can guarantee perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password and keep your Discord account secure.

Children

MTG Hookups is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
